Why 32 bit is called X86?

Why 32 bit is called X86?

Bit is the smallest Unit of Memory in computer System. It store binary number either 1 or 0. Computers usually provide instruction that can test and manipulate bits.

Technically x86 refers to a series of processor and instructions which they use. It doesn't refer any data size or something else.
8086 is the fist 86 family processor which usually designed for 16 bit instruction. After that pentium invents 32 processor with 80386/ 80486 family and it was called 80x86. But after some time 80 was dropped and X86 is used for 32 bit family processor.
64 bit is here odd man out the first set was called X86-64 and later that it was called AMD64 because they are the one who come up with a 64 bit extension. INTEL licensed 64 bit and named it EM64T.
